CLINICAL CONSULTANT

After completing my MS in General Surgery from King George’s Medical College in Lucknow, India, I moved to the UK in 1998. I received surgical training at centers in Liverpool and London before specializing in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and Transplant Surgery at Cambridge. In 2008, I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon and Associate Lecturer at Cambridge University.

Cambridge is one of the oldest and largest multi-organ transplant centers in Europe, and one of the busiest tertiary HPB surgery centers in the UK. In addition to performing major liver and pancreatic cancer surgeries and liver transplants, I have made significant contributions to developing specialist services at Cambridge and expanding the HPB and Transplant Surgery department. I have a strong interest in minimally invasive surgery and have played a key role in advancing laparoscopic pancreatic and liver resections, establishing a specialized regional service for managing pancreatitis, and developing a day-case laparoscopic cholecystectomy service.

I’m also deeply committed to specialist surgical training. I have previously served as the Royal College Tutor, and I currently hold the position of Deputy Training Program Director (TPD) for higher surgical trainees in the East of England. I’m an Examiner for the specialty FRCS in General Surgery, a member of the UK’s Speciality Advisory Committee (SAC), and have been appointed as the national Quality Assurance (QA) lead for general surgical training in the UK. I’ve pioneered and taught several professional courses, published over 60 peer-reviewed articles, and am actively involved in various research projects.

Outside of surgery, I’m passionate about music and occasionally upload videos of my singing. You can check out my YouTube channel to see some of my performances.
